The complete professional training pathway for aspiring sound therapy practitioners.

The UKASTA Professional Sound Therapy Practitioner Programme combines our Sound Therapy Practitioner Certification – Level 1 with the Advanced Sound Therapy Practitioner Diploma – Level 2, creating a progressive blended learning journey from scientific and theoretical foundations through to hands-on training and applied professional practice.

Designed for therapists, wellness practitioners, yoga teachers and those wishing to build a career in sound therapy, the programme combines flexible online study with immersive in-person practical training. Learners develop their knowledge first, experience and practise therapeutic sound techniques in person, and then consolidate their learning through supervised practice and practitioner case studies.

Your Learning Journey

Phase 1 – Level 1: Online Foundations

Begin by developing the essential theoretical knowledge underpinning safe and professional sound therapy practice through six comprehensive online modules, completed at your own pace before attending Level 2.

Level 1 explores:

• Foundations and history of sound therapy

• Sound, stress and nervous system regulation

• Frequency, vibration and musical foundations

• Crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, chimes and therapeutic percussion

• Session planning, facilitation and professional practice

• Ethics, safeguarding and client considerations

Before progressing to the in-person practical training, learners complete all six online modules and the Level 1 knowledge assessment, ensuring they arrive with a strong understanding of the principles that will be put into practice during Level 2.

Phase 2 – Level 2: In-Person Practical Training

Progress to an immersive two-day practical intensive where the knowledge developed through Level 1 is brought to life through hands-on training.

Delivered in small group cohorts, Level 2 is centred on supervised practical learning, advanced techniques and personalised tutor feedback. Learners have the opportunity to work directly with a range of therapeutic sound instruments, develop their facilitation skills and build confidence before progressing into their independent practitioner case studies.

Training includes:

• Advanced gong facilitation, including therapeutic techniques, mallets and flumies

• Advanced crystal singing bowl techniques, including an introduction to alchemy bowls

• Foundational tuning fork techniques for therapeutic sound practice

• Professional one-to-one therapeutic sound session protocols

• Advanced group sound bath facilitation

• Layering multiple instruments to create immersive therapeutic sound journeys

• Developing professional confidence, therapeutic presence and facilitation skills

• Integrating advanced sound therapy into professional wellness practice

• Introduction to a range of additional therapeutic sound instruments to inspire continued professional development

Building upon the foundations established through the online learning, this practical intensive focuses on competency, confidence and real-world application.

Phase 3 – Practitioner Case Studies & Final Assessment

Following the in-person training, learners consolidate their knowledge and practical skills through independent practitioner experience.

Learners complete six practitioner case studies, allowing them to apply the techniques developed throughout both Level 1 and Level 2 within real-world practice.

The programme concludes with a final practical video submission, demonstrating a therapeutic sound session and the learner’s ability to integrate the knowledge, techniques and professional standards developed throughout the programme.

This final stage enables learners to develop experience progressively following their hands-on training, while receiving ongoing tutor support as they work towards full programme completion.

Assessment

Assessment is integrated across the learning journey and combines theoretical understanding with practical application.

Programme Structure

The programme comprises approximately 54 hours of learning and assessment, including:

• 30 hours structured online theoretical and directed learning
• 10 hours tutor-led face-to-face practical training
• 14 hours independent assessed practical application

Minimum age: 18+

Learners must complete the Level 1 online learning and final Level 1 knowledge assessment before attending the Level 2 practical training.

Following Level 2, learners complete six practitioner case studies and a final practical video assessment.
