Develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to safely and professionally facilitate mindfulness and guided meditation.
The UKASTA Mindfulness Teacher Certification is a comprehensive online training programme designed for wellness professionals, therapists and individuals who want to deepen their understanding of mindfulness and develop the skills to confidently guide others.
Combining evidence-informed theory with practical application, the course explores the foundations and science of mindfulness, stress and the nervous system, core mindfulness practices, meditation techniques, facilitation skills and professional practice.
Rather than simply learning meditation scripts, you’ll develop an understanding of why and how mindfulness works, how to embody mindfulness within your own practice, and how to create safe, inclusive and meaningful experiences for others.

What you'll learn
Across six comprehensive modules, you will develop both the theoretical understanding and practical facilitation skills required to teach mindfulness confidently and responsibly.
Module 1 — Foundations of Mindfulness
Explore what mindfulness is, where it comes from and how it has evolved into contemporary wellbeing and therapeutic settings. Understand the difference between mindfulness and meditation, the importance of developing your own personal practice, and the principles that underpin effective mindfulness teaching.
Module 2 — The Science of Mindfulness
Understand the science behind mindfulness, including the stress response, the autonomic nervous system and the relationship between mindfulness, attention and emotional regulation. Explore how stress shows up differently for different people and how mindfulness practices may support greater awareness, regulation and wellbeing.
Module 3 — The Nine Attitudes of Mindfulness
Take a deeper exploration of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Nine Attitudes of Mindfulness. Learn how these attitudes move mindfulness beyond a set of techniques and into an embodied way of practising, living and ultimately teaching mindfulness to others.
Module 4 — Mindfulness Practices & Techniques
Explore core mindfulness practices including breath awareness, body scan, mindful movement and mindfulness in everyday life. Develop an understanding of established mindfulness-based approaches, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), while recognising the appropriate professional boundaries around their use.
Module 5 — Guiding Mindfulness: Communication & Facilitation Skills
Develop the practical skills to guide others through mindfulness and meditation. Explore voice, pace, tone, language, silence and presence; learn how to work with and adapt scripts; begin writing your own practices; and understand how to create safe, inclusive and supportive experiences for different participants.
Module 6 — Planning, Delivering & Evaluating Mindfulness Sessions
Bring your learning together to plan and facilitate professional mindfulness sessions. Explore session structure, holding space, ethics, scope of practice, contraindications and precautions, safeguarding and appropriate signposting. Consider how mindfulness can be offered as a standalone practice or thoughtfully integrated into wider spa, wellness, therapeutic, movement, sound and retreat settings.
Practical resources & practitioner toolkit
Throughout the course, you'll have access to downloadable resources designed to support both your learning and future professional practice.
Learning through embodiment
Mindfulness is not simply something we teach, it is something we practise.
For this reason, the programme encourages you to develop your own mindfulness practice alongside your theoretical learning.
Although the course is self-paced, we recommend allowing approximately six weeks to complete the programme. This gives you time to experience the practices personally, reflect on your learning and begin developing the presence required to facilitate mindfulness authentically.
Assessment
Your learning is supported through module activities, reflection exercises and knowledge checks.
Following completion of the theoretical programme, you will undertake two practical case studies, giving you the opportunity to plan, facilitate and reflect upon mindfulness sessions with others.
Case study documentation and guidance are provided within the course.
Certification
On completion of the online theoretical training, you will receive a Certificate of Theoretical Completion.
Your full Mindfulness Teacher Certificate is awarded following successful completion and review of the required practical case studies.
